Why should patients and cyclists get a bike fit?

The bike fit is a process. The bike must be adapted to your ever-changing body and technique. If your uncomfortable you can’t sustain speed and power. The bike fit considers the following:

 Speed = Comfort, Power and Aerodynamics

We can change the speed of a rider by changing:

1) Body and the Bike: Finding comfort in the most efficient position.

2) Bike: Minimising wind and resistance.

3) Maximising Speed: Achieving the balance between comfort, aerodynamics and power.

4) Maximising Power: Finding the right balance of position, alignment, and stability

 

What are the 3 ways we optimise the bike?

1) Back end: Seat position = height and fore-aft 

2) Front end: Bars for comfort

3) Shoes + cleats: Symmetry and allows rigid lever
