What is Whiplash
Whiplash are injuries that happen after an acceleration-deceleration movement, which usually occur following a car accident or blow to the head during sport. Whiplash can affect the muscles, ligaments, joints and nerves in the head and neck area.
What are the Signs and Symptoms of Whiplash
+ Pain and stiffness in the neck
+ Spasm in the neck muscles
+ Headaches
+ Dizziness
+ Symptoms into the arms – tingling, burning, referred pain
What is the Treatment of Whiplash
The physiotherapist will clear any red flags such as a fracture. Initial treatment will consist some gentle manual therapy and massage to help reduce spasm and pain symptoms. The Physiotherapist will prescribe exercises to do at home to help reduce any chronicity of whiplash.
