As an undergraduate student Reece was involved in the sports coverage of Rugby Union (Manly Marlins Rugby Union) and AFL (Manly Giants) teams on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Reece graduated in 2013 completing his Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science Degree at Australian Catholic University and in 2015 completed his Master of Physiotherapy at Sydney University.
Reece was accepted into the Royal North Shore Hospital’s New Graduate Allocation Program in 2016, where he gained invaluable experience in a variety of areas. This allowed Reece to gather extensive knowledge from Senior Physiotherapists as well as work closely with Orthopaedic Surgeons. Reece has a special interest in Hand Therapy after spending 9 months in the specialised Hand Therapy Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital. Reece also enjoys treating knees due his own experience of 2 ACL reconstructions as well as neck injuries. Reece has been working in a musculoskeletal practice on the Northern Beaches since leaving RNSH.
Reece in 2022 completed his qualification in managing Scoliosis. This qualification is given by the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School. This allows Reece to assess and treat scoliosis in kids and adults with the aim of improving their quality of life, preventing curve progression and avoiding surgery.
Additionally in 2022, Reece completed his Physio Bike Fit course under the guidance of Paul Visentini. Paul has previously worked with Cycling Australia and professional Cycling teams such as Lotto.
In 2024 Reece was successful in being awarded the Title of APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist and becoming a member of the Australian College of Physiotherapists (MACP). Physiotherapists cannot identify themselves as Specialists, therefore the term ‘Title’ is a recognition of training in a ‘Specialty’ area.
Despite his extensive injury history of 4 upper and lower limb surgeries from sport, Reece loves to keep fit by competing in triathlons and playing touch football at a high level. You may catch him on the weekends running on the Northern Beaches or Cycling out to West Head.
